Greek Yogurt Shampoo and Conditioner – New From Hask

Hask recently sent me a full sized bottle of their Greek Yogurt Shampoo and Conditioner Blueberry and Acai Collection.  I’ve tried these products for a couple of weeks, and wanted to share the results with you.  While Hask did send these to me for free to review, my opinion is entirely honest and unbiased.

As you can see I received a full-sized shampoo and conditioner, and a deep conditioner in a foil packet (which I used multiple times!). This is a unique product. Each tube has two chambers that keep a greek yogurt formula separate from the blueberry and acai formula.  These two come together to repair your locks from heat and color damage.  It’s packed full of vitamins, minerals, and of course protein!

Hask Greek Yogurt Dual Chamber View

So what did I think?

The shampoo doesn’t lather up quite as much as I would like. It takes some doing and is rather difficult to get out of the tube (maybe due to the dual chambers and having to fight to get the product out of both at the same time?).  BUT, it smells fantastic and doesn’t feel like it leaves behind a residue.  My hair genuinely feels clean.  As a girl with a lot of breakage and damage, I’m all about a product that’s going to strengthen and repair my damage. I do enjoy using this and i like that it comes with a deep conditioning treatment.  Hair treatments in the shower are at the top of my list of favorites.

It feels like I have to use a lot of the conditioner to get my hair evenly covered and conditioned.  Maybe I’m crazy, but I was seriously like doubling up conditioner use.  It didn’t feel like anything was on my hair?! But that’s also a blessing in disguise because when I stepped out of the shower, my hair felt fresh and clean.  Some shampoos and conditioners leave a slick feeling on your hair and no matter what you do you can’t quite get it all out.  All in all, I was impressed with Hask’s new shampoo and conditioner.  I will definitely keep using this collection.

About the same time as I received this collection from Hask, I picked up a bottle of their coconut oil shampoo from my grocery store.I keep this one at my boyfriend’s house.  I love all things that smell like coconut and the summer, so I jumped on this one when I sniffed the bottle.  It didn’t hit me until we got home that it was Hask! I love this shampoo also, so I highly recommend this brand!

If you want to try Hask Greek Yogurt Shampoo and Conditioner…

run to Walgreens or!  This collection is only found at Walgreens, but their other products are at drugstores and grocery stores!  It’s a decent drugstore price and has seriously grown on me.  At first I was in my shower highly confused as to why I was using this shampoo and conditioner. But the more I used it, the more I loved it.  Between the fruit extracts and the greek yogurt protein, I felt like I was giving my hair a healthy dessert.  Maybe damage repair isn’t what you need — check out fig & honey for hydration or Hask’s pomegranate & cranberry for color protection.  The bottles run about $10.00 each, but Walgreens currently has a deal running where if you buy two hair products you get one free!

You can find Hask’s Website here and their brand on Walgreen’s website here!

A special thanks to Hask for sending me these awesome products to test out and review!  As stated above, this review is unbiased and honest.  Check out Hask at Walgreens or for more.

How To: Track Your Finances & Create An Easy Budget

Most twenty-somethings that I know don’t keep track of their finances very well, if at all. Since I made the decision to move out of my parents house — HOORAY (sorry mom & dad), I’ve taken the time to sit down and create a budget for my expenses.  It took about an hour and today I’m sharing how I created my budget, along with my simple budget worksheet (free!).

Your Secret Weapon to Fight Blemished Skin in 2017!

I recently posted about my skincare routine and gave a basic rundown of how I keep it simple, yet effective. Like most, I tend to just repurchase the same products when I run out. But with the New Year in full swing I have tried a few new products that you need in your collection!

DermaE sent me their charcoal mask and their daily purifying charcoal scrub to try out.  These were sent to me for free, but this is my honest opinion of the products.  I spent over a week using these daily and this is what I’ve found:

Purifying Daily Detox Charcoal Scrub

After the first use, this product didn’t blow me away.  I had super high expectations because I love charcoal face masks, so at first I was a little let down with the scrub.  I was expecting immediate results, and didn’t get them.  But a few days into using this scrub I had an ah-ha moment!

This scrub is gentle on your skin and combines the magnetizing powers of activated charcoal with apricot seed powder exfoliants to lift away oil, dirt, impurities, and dead skin cells leaving your skin silky and clean.  One of my favorite aspects is the cooling sensation created by the small amount of menthol in the scrub.  It’s not painful or overwhelming, and honestly I didn’t even notice it during the first use.

The reason I didn’t notice an immediate change is because this is a gentle cleansing scrub.  And let’s be honest most products don’t drastically alter the appearance of your skin after one use. It’s effective and will show its power over several uses.

I’m not a fan of using an exfoliator on my skin daily, so I tend to use it 2-3 times a week and even pair it with my usual tea-tree oil cleanser.  I think this is a great product if you’re looking for a multi-tasking exfoliator.  It cleanses, scrubs, and detoxes your skin, and leaves behind a cool refreshed face.

Purifying Charcoal 2 in 1 Charcoal Mask

Now this product is one to get excited about the first time you use it.  I know I already said this, but I LOVE CHARCOAL MASKS. They clean out every single pore on your face. And this mask is no exception.

It’s not just an ordinary face mask with activated charcoal… it goes the extra mile. You apply this like a typical mud mask and let it soak in and dry.  I will say this mask dries rather quickly, which is a positive in my eyes.  Who likes to sit for an hour waiting on a face mask to dry… not me.

As you watch this charcoal mask dry, you can literally see it sinking into your pores. Not even joking; it looks gross, but soooo cool.  You know this baby is going to put in work.  After the mask has dried and set, hop in the shower or go to your sink to rinse, but don’t jump the gun.

This mask is ALSO A SCRUB! So when you go to rinse away, add a little water and feel the apricot seed exfoliants gently removing any other dirt, oil, or makeup you may still have on your skin.  I love products that are multi-taskers. Nothing is better than a product that can handle cleaning your pores, and the surface of your skin at the same time AND does an amazing job at both.

This mask doesn’t have the same cooling effect as the scrub (there’s no menthol in it), but that doesn’t bother me.  I really enjoy using this.  It’s a reliable product and you know what your results will be every time you use it.

Overall Opinions…

The week I tried these products out happened to be the week of my period, so my skin was a total nightmare.  I hardly ever get breakouts, except for my period week.  I go from oily to dry to broken out to blackheads.  Ew.  I had so many breakouts around my mouth and nose this month, and it was awful.  And for once these actually cleared it up faster than my typical skincare routine.  I was so impressed.  My skin was soft, glowing, and not too dry or too oily the entire week.

The only downfall is the full size 2 in 1 mask is only 1.7 ounces.  I wish this full size was the same as the cleansing scrub, which weighs in at  a whopping 4 ounces.  Also the charcoal mask costs almost $4.00 more than the larger bottle of the detox-cleansing scrub.  Albeit the mask being slightly pricey for the quantity you are receiving, these two products are definitely worth the money.  These can be found at Ulta, Walgreens, CVS, Sprouts, Whole Foods, or you can order directly from DermaE.  Unfortunately, DermaE does not ship internationally or to Canada at this time.

DermaE is a cruelty free, vegan, and free of those pesky GMOs.  They have recently released new packaging on all of their products, so make sure to check them out! If you’re interested in more about their company I highly recommend checking out DermaE’s Website.

By far my favorite aspect of this company is their one time offer for every new customer.  On their website under Sales and Specials, DermaE has a free Sample Box.  Free might be overstating it, slightly.  But they only charge $4.95 (standard shipping) and will send you a box full of samples of various products they offer.  Included is also a $5.00 coupon (negates the shipping), and a catalog that gives you the rundown of all of the products they offer. The main reason I love this is because you can’t go grab a sample from Sephora.  These are only available online and at drugstores and Ulta (which really needs to invest in a sample system– just saying).

You can also read my review about their daytime and nighttime moisturizers here: The Moisturizers You Need!!

Also, if you have used any of their products, I want to know your opinions! Please let me know in the comments below! If you have any questions about these, don’t hesitate to ask! 🙂DermaE detox scrub and charcoal mask

How To Create A Highly Productive Work Space

One of the biggest problems I have had while in college, blogging and at my regular 9-5 is an unproductive work space.  I thrive under pressure, but pressure does not mean clutter and mess.  Today I’m sharing my top tips to create a constructive work space and boost productivity.

I have days where I really get in the mood to organize certain things and it can be really fun.  Don’t think of this as work.  Create a system for how to store papers, files, notebooks etc. and remove all of the unnecessary items from your desk. I only leave one paper inbox on my desk for bills, magazines, catalogs, and receipts that need my attention.  Everything else, including pens and pencils are stored in a drawer or cabinet below my desk.  Make sure your organization system includes a method to keep the items you reach for on a regular basis close by.  I use file folders to keep logs and important documents on the side of my desk at work and hold them in a simple metal file organizer.  At home, I keep as much as possible out of sight.

Also, clean up your computer’s storage. It’s important to have a system of organization for photos, documents, pdfs, and other files.  Have sub-folders and try to store as much as you can in a cloud based system rather than filling up your hard drive.  I use Google Drive and One Drive for my blog and One Drive at work. My One Drive is where I store all of my final edited photos, stock photos, headers, signature lines, and all other final photos.  My Google Drive comes in handy since it’s my email account for this blog and I can transfer photos from my phone to my computer by simply uploading them.  I keep my blog calendar on my same Gmail account, as well as use Google Docs for drafting blog ideas when I’m away from my personal laptop.  I use One Drive at work for everything.

Once you get everything organized, you have to keep up with it.  If you let your desk get messy again, you’re taking two steps back.  Keeping a tidy work space will make it easier for you to focus and work more efficiently.  You won’t be daydreaming about all of your laundry in the corner that won’ put itself away, or dreading the pile of miscellaneous documents and tasks you have to sort on the corner of your desk.

Pretty Copper Pencil Cup and Striped Pencils

You don’t want to sit at a desk that feels foreign or uncomfortable.  To increase the cozy feel, add personal touches (but not too many – remember, we don’t want to add clutter).  Add a photo of your loved one or your fur baby, a pretty coffee mug for your pens, toss a throw pillow in your chair, and a small cactus or other low maintenance plant. If you have any certificates, diplomas, or other framed memorabilia hang it on your walls! Show off your credentials proudly.  If you make your work space feel like home, you will be more comfortable and relaxed while you work.  You’ll step into it each day happy and ready to go.

If your work space is too bright you will strain your eyes all day and have an awful headache by the end of the day.  Also, if your work space is too dim, you are going to feel tired and lethargic, and will struggle to hold your eyes open – much less get anything else accomplished.  Trust me.  Been there – done that.  Natural light is the best option, so if you have a window, arrange your desk or your chair/person in a way to take in the best lighting.  Remember the sun moves, so what may be a pretty view of the flowers and birds in the morning, may be a scorching afternoon in the sun or even an awful glare on your computer screen.

This is so important and something I have to actively remind myself to do.  Turn off Netflix, put your phone on Airplane Mode/ Do Not Disturb, put away the magazines, and stop picking at last week’s manicure. I know it sounds boring, but if Netflix is playing beside you, that’s where your attention will go. The same rule applies if your cell is lighting up with Snapchat or Instagram notifications.  I tend to play music or a non-distracting podcast in the background.  If I’m working on a task that requires intense focus, then I only listen to classical, instrumental music.  It has been proven to improve your ability to focus, and is WAY less distracting than Sam Hunt’s new single (seriously, I can’t stop playing it!).

Sitting at the same desk day in and day out can be very draining.  I’m not saying you need to request a new office every few months, but our human nature, as much as it loves having a routine, needs a change.  Step out of your home office with your laptop and get a coffee.  Go sit in the conference room at work and spread out the project you’re working on – or even take that  assignment outside and sit in the sun for 30 minutes.  Take a stretch break and go for a 10 minute walk.  Stand up and stretch those legs.  Studies have shown that standing can make you feel happier, less tired, and more motivated while at work.

Making these changes can be easier than you think, too.  Organization, good lighting, and personalizing your work space are one time jobs.  Keeping it clean and tidy, minimizing distractions, and changing up your work location/method are easy tweaks to habits you probably already have.  What else do you do that improves your work space?
