The Moisturizer You Need: DermaE

DermaE Moisturizers That You NeedFirst, I want to be upfront with you that DermaE sent me a PR package that included a jar of both of their hydrating day and night creams. The jars show off the previous packaging compared to the company’s new packaging and design that they are launching starting in September 2016. They are offering the same great formula with a bit of a face-lift!

I think we all can agree – great packaging is everything – and DermaE’s new look is gorgeous!

Before diving into the products, I want to give you all a quick peek into DermaE. I did some recon and I have to say, I’m impressed. DermaE is a brand who is all natural, 100% vegan, and gluten, paraben, GMO, and cruelty-free. Just that part alone peaked my interest.

derma e® stands for skin-friendly, earth-friendly, highly effective natural products that make a real difference in the look and feel of your skin. Whether you’ve got wrinkles, sagging, hyperpigmentation or dehydration, derma e® will target your most significant skin concerns…Our 100% vegan, cruelty-free formulas do not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oil, artificial colors, gluten, soy or GMO’s. Now thats honest-to-goodness skin care. – DermaE

How many companies can say the same? They have won numerous awards and have 92 products listed on their site including skincare bundles designed to target specific needs such as hydration and deep wrinkles. They have several products, and one of my favorite aspects of DermaE’s website is that they have a free sampler package you can order. This sampler package contains 10 foil pack samples of some of their most loved products AND a $5.00 coupon for your next purchase. You simply have to pay a $4.95 shipping fee. HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! This is a one-of-a-kind offer that I haven’t seen on other skincare company websites. Who lets you try out their products before you buy them?

Day Time MoisturizerDermaE Daytime Moisturizer and Box

I have seriously been indulging in this moisturizer. It’s not greasy and is an excellent primer for my face before I start my makeup application. It doesn’t matter if it’s a full face of makeup or 10 minutes quickie day. This moisturizer contains hyaluronic acid which is the active ingredient that hydrates, plumps and softens the skin so well. I enjoy the light, clean scent that doesn’t overpower the senses.

DermaE Daytime Moisturizer

DermaE’s Day Time moisturizer is very light weight. You don’t feel as if you’re caking it on your face at all. It absorbs quickly into the skin but doesn’t dry up and disappear. At the end of the day, I can still tell I moisturized in the morning! I apply only a little amount with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush…. a little goes a long way!

Night Time Moisturizer

DermaE Hydrating Night Cream and Box

I will say this is a heavier product than the day cream, but since I’m literally putting it on and then going to sleep, who cares! It’s no big deal! I really love the new design DermaE chose for the packaging. The box and the jar itself are more appealing, but I’ll get to that later. I’ve been using this moisturizer before bed on a clean face and in conjunction with my retinol serum from Valentia, and I absolutely love it. These products work very well together.

DermaE Hydrating Night Cream

I usually use the same Neutrogena moisturizer for the day and night and it leaves a slightly greasy/oily sheen, but even this heavier night cream doesn’t do that. I apply this to my skin with a flat foundation brush (sometimes my fingers), and just like the day cream, a little goes a long way.

Packaging

As I stated earlier, DermaE sent me this package partially to review their products and partially to help spread the word about their new packaging. The previous design and colors scheme featured darker shades and heavier fonts. The lighter, airy feel of the new package design is to die for.

DermaE Old v. New Packaging Boxes

The matte white box with light blue designs and light gray font immediately caught my eye. The label on the jar matches the box, as you can see. It is more inviting and is definitely targeting a younger and broader audience. It doesn’t look like just your mother’s night cream anymore. It’s great for anyone. In the new design is a gorgeous lotus flower and the color scheme depends on the product line: hydrating, sun care, even tone, age-defying, etc.

I will say there is a little annoying piece of plastic under the cap that helps prevent the cream from getting all in the lid and sides of the jar where the lid screws onto it, but every time I open my night or day cream, this little plastic piece falls out and it either sticks to my counter or lands face down on my floor. It’s not the end of the world, but it does bug me.

I also wish the jars weren’t glass. They are a little heavy and not the most ideal to drop in your travel bags, even if it is just for a weekend getaway. Otherwise, I think DermaE aced their new packaging.

Overall Impressions and Why You Need It

These products rock. The 2-ounce jars retail for $29.50 each on the DermaE website, but I recently have seen them on sale at Walgreens. Yep, you don’t have to order this product online. I personally enjoy picking up products in person rather than just placing an online order. You can find DermaE products at various retailers including Target, Ulta, Walgreens, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Bristol Farms, Sally Beauty Supply, GNC, CVS, Ralphs, and others.

The hydrating line from DermaE definitely exceeded my expectations and lived up to its name. How many moisturizers/skincare companies out there are 100% open and honest about having clean ingredients in addition to a great product. I am loving that they are boosting their eco-friendly side. I feel like by using DermaE, I am using products that I can trust to be what they say they are. I don’t have any hesitation or doubt in their claims that these moisturizers are clean of harsh chemicals and other potentially toxic ingredients.

DermaE offers so much more than just moisturizers, but I will definitely be a repeat buyer of these two. I also have my sights set on their charcoal mask and a few other items on their site. You can check them out here: www.dermae.com.

Thank you so much DermaE for giving me the chance to check out your products and giving me a first look into your new branding and packaging. I can’t wait to dive into more products. Your company has definitely gained another loyal customer.
